Mercy's story
My adoption fee is $130 which covers my; spay/neuter, vaccinations, fecal test, microchip, heartworm test, and monthly flea and heartworm prevention while in HSSET care.
Hi, my name is Mercy! I was found as a stray and the family who found me opened their heart and home to me until I get adopted. Here is a note from my foster family, "Mercy is about a year old and she is always on the go. She enjoys running around the backyard with my dogs playing chase or tossing around a toy. She likes a good belly rub and being lazy from time to time. Mercy enjoys treats like most dogs do, and has learned to sit! We are working on other commands and simple tasks with her and with positive reinforcement, patience, and some tasty treats she is on her way to being a well mannered pup!"
Now for the less good notes on Mercy;
"Mercy may have been abused in the past and has probably lived outside for most of her life so she wasn't taught basic manners/commands and can be scared of sudden movements or when you point something in her directions. When she first came into my home she was timid and shy, but within 24 hours she began to trust us and start becoming more comfortable. I can pet all over her (feet, ears, etc.) and she does not protest, and I have been making loud/strange noises to get her accustomed to normal household sounds. Although she is a great dog she is very playful and may be too rambunctious for a household with small children. She has been great with my other dogs but is very active and playful, she also plays with our young cat, but she is a bit too rough/big and we make sure they are supervised. She will even play with our rats and rabbits, but we do have to carefully supervise the play time as she likes to jump around when she plays and can be a bit rambunctious. Mercy has really come a long way in just a short time! We are working on basic puppy manners such as when we play with toys she may nibble on our fingers a bit, she does not realize our hand/fingers are there and she gets overly excited. We are teaching her taking things more gently and be more cautious of her size and surroundings when playing. When she gets very excited she will jump and we are working on that as well. She was a bit mouthy at first when she would get playful, not in a mean spirited way but when her and my own dogs are playing they chew on each other and so she thinks that is how you play with humans as well (basically an overgrown puppy), but we are working on it! She will need a home willing to commit to continueing her training and also be able to spend lots of time with her as she does love to play and has quite a bit of energy. Maybe a family who enjoys hiking, going for runs, taking a walk on the beach, would be great for her and she would also really enjoy having a doggie brother or sister"!
